Pedestrian dies in Providence accident

An early morning accident at Providence Public Road, East Bank Demerara has left an unidentified pedestrian dead.

Police yesterday said that they are investigating a fatal accident which occurred some time around 1.20 am yesterday. Investigations revealed that motor car PLL 2595 was proceeding along the roadway when it is alleged that the pedestrian attempted to cross the road and was struck down.

The man who was killed is said to be of East Indian decent, about 55 to 60 years old and fair in complexion. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital, a police release said.

The body is at Lyken’s Funeral Parlour while the driver is in police custody assisting with investigations.
