Mortice Primary wins Region Five Spelling Bee competition

Mortice Primary School of Mahaicony emerged victorious at a Spelling Bee competition held on Monday at the Lachmansingh Primary School at Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.

Andrew Persaud was adjudged the best speller of the winning school which was among 15 primary schools in Region Five to participate in the competition.

Gaining the second spot was Hopetown Primary with its best speller being Jianna while the Lachmansingh Primary School copped the third position and the best speller for that school was Ceon Singh.

The winning school received a special trophy while trophies were also presented to the top performers who were also each awarded with medals.

The trophies and medals were donated by the Aditya Kids Trust Fund Foundation of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice.

Present at the competition were District Education Officers, attached to primary schools in the region; Chittrawattie Tularam and Bashir Khan.

One of the coordinators of the event which was organized as part of the education month activities was Inderjeet Persaud, a Grade Six teacher of Mortice Primary.
