A Lodge family last night escaped unharmed from a fire which gutted their lower flat after reportedly being started by a toddler.

Martin Dey, of 9 Norton Street, Lodge, told Stabroek News that his two-year-old nephew lit a match on a bed while his mother, his brother’s reputed wife, was having a bath.

“I heard she at de top of she voice screaming for me and when I run I see in deh in a blaze. He noted that people in the area also pitched in with buckets for which he was thankful.
