Derelict car removed before publication of letter of complaint

With reference to a letter in SN on January 21, captioned ‘Car wreck causing accidents,’ the Eccles/Ramsburg Council is pleased that you have attempted a proactive effort and commends your intention.

We are, however, utterly dissatisfied with your poor and improper research in relation to the concern before publication. It would serve you well to recall that reporting has an investigative component.

On that note the Council at the Eccles/Ramsburg NDC is pleased to inform you that the derelict car in question was removed before the publication of that letter. This was done by the council.

Further, contrary to what the letter purports, there has been no report of any accident involving the vehicle. Needless to say the said vehicle was occupying the roadside reserve and not the road.

The council remains committed to serving the people of the Eccles/Ramsburg NDC and takes great pride in so doing.

Once again we wish to thank you for your proactive and well-meaning intention.

Yours faithfully,
SA Khan
Chairman

Editor’s note

The letter in question was not a newspaper report, and consequently we would not investigate the claim made.

However, we do offer a party named in correspondence in a pejorative context the opportunity to respond, which was done in this instance.
