St Rose’s lacks the equipment to offer Physical Education at CSEC

Dear Editor,

I am a concerned parent of two children, one of whom is attending St Rose’s High School currently in his final year. He intends to write Physical Education for CSEC, but this may not be possible since the equipment required for the various practicals are not being provided by the school. When enquiry was made to the Principal about the purchasing of the necessary equipment, the response was to request to have the students borrow equipment from other schools. Must these students borrow equipment from other schools year after year? The school should not offer the subject to be written for CXC if they know they do not possess the necessary equipment.

The various monies collected from the school’s annual garden party are not accounted for to us the parents, neither are the school’s intentions with the money stated.

Hopefully, this letter will be recognized by the Ministry of Education and action will be taken to ensure that the students are equipped by the school to write their examination.

After all, that is the purpose of school, to equip students with what is necessary to excel.

Yours faithfully,
(Name and address supplied)
