The most gratuitous pandering to degenerate social policy ever from the hands of an editor of a local newspaper

Dear Editor,
I refer to the Editorial in the Stabroek News of July 5th 2010 (`The SASOD film festival and the IRO’), and would appreciate the opportunity to rebut!

We have heard of a complicit media, but this is ridiculous! It is unfortunate that this editorial has only just been brought to our attention!

This is by far the most gratuitous pandering to negative and degenerate social policy ever to come from the hands of an editor of a local newspaper thus far … and is reminiscent of what Ras Ashkar meant in 2008 when he wrote “Those in support of homosexuality are more interested in their hedonistic agenda than in individual freedom” (http://www.stabroeknews.com/2008/letters/05/27/those-in-support-of-homosexuality-are-more-interested-in-their-hedonistic-agenda-than-in-individual-freedom/ ). Ashkar had the presence of mind two years ago (see the last two paragraphs of his letter) to infer that what SASOD was in fact doing (with its website and “film festivals”) was attempting to lure Guyanese teenagers into same-sex activity given the euphemistically-titled web-page “The Experimenting Teenager“ at its website.

It’s no wonder that the other responses to this editorial at the SN-website seem so half-hearted! It’s not easy to support a farce!

The easiest approach through the smokescreen of rhetoric the editorial represents would be to focus on, and respond to, the penultimate paragraph in one sentence. No “right-thinking” editor can or should use half a page of newspaper space to hide from the facts!

We have addressed the detail of the plethora of medical, scientific, legal, social-policy and other reasons why homosexuality is not a civil right, and why the IRO was dead right on this one in “The Case Against Pancap and the Decriminalization of Homosexuality”  (http://www.scribd.com/doc/17685588/The-Case-Against-PANCAP-and-the-Decriminalization-of-Homosexuality). The facts listed therein remain unassailable: Nageer, Kissoon, SASOD, and now an editorial are trying to foist a lie of immense proportions upon the Guyanese people!
The SN editorial has not addressed the facts therein!

2. We have addressed the detail of the plethora of medical, scientific, legal, social-policy and other reasons why transgenderism is not a civil right in “The Case Against Cross-dressing or Transgenderism in Guyana” ( http://www.scribd.com/doc/27698238/The-Case-Against-Cross-Dressing-or-Transgender-ism-in-Guyana-UPDATED ). Section “K” of that document illustrates why Vidyaratha Kissoon did the right thing by resigning from the Rights of the Child Commission (ROCC).

The SN editorial has not addressed the facts therein!
The facts speak for themselves! They support the IRO-position 100%. The Editorial has offered little or no facts in return! A speculative indulgence in intellectual irresponsibility is no substitute for paying attention to detail on this important social issue!

The Editor should cease and desist … or else do the intellectually honest thing and address the medical, legal, psychiatric and social-policy facts and implications, not meander aimlessly in and out of a murky pool of gay-militant apologist propaganda!
Yours faithfully,
Roger Williams
