Police working expeditiously on sexual molestation case

Dear Editor,

The Guyana Police Force is responding to a letter published in the Stabroek News on Wednesday, August 18, under the caption ‘Police stalling in sexual molestation case.’

The Force wishes to state that investigations into matters of such nature where children are involved tend to take a little more time.

There has been no attempt to ‘stall’ in this matter as alluded to in the letter, rather, on the contrary, the matter has been extensively investigated and the completed file forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The file has been returned with instructions from the DPP to clear up some issues identified. Presently this is being worked on expeditiously by the police after which the file will be returned to the DPP for further advice.

Yours faithfully,
Ivelaw Whittaker
Public Relations and Press Officer
