Canal, dam between Plns Ross and Brahn are the worst in West Coast Berbice

Dear Editor,
For the MMA/ADA to do the NDC works in Region Five they need money. A few weeks ago the MMA/ADA held a meeting at Plantation Ross, West Coast Berbice, and said that they were taking over the work of cleaning the drains and canals, but they didn’t have the money to clear the canals.

The NDC of Tempie Seafield, West Coast Berbice, is not functioning, and the Regional Chairman knows that too. The PNCR has nine councillors and the PPP/C has three. I want Local Government Minister Kellawan Lall, to come and take a look at this NDC.

There are two overseers, one from Plantation Chester and the other from Brittania Village where the NDC office is. The Minister should take a look at the streets and where the Chairman lives at Lichfield Village.

I write as a proprietor of Plantation Brahn, West Coast Berbice. I want Stabroek News or any other newspaper or TV station in Guyana to come and take a look at the drainage canal and dam between Plantations Ross and Brahn; it is the worst dam and drainage canal in WCB. If this NDC was given a grant of $32M, where was it spent? They claimed they paid MMA to clean this canal, but the MMA said they did not get paid. We were told that in order to do our street there would have to be a joint development committee. It would be better if we paid all our rates and taxes to the MMA and closed some of these NDC offices down.

Yours faithfully,
Rudolph Singh
