RHTY&SC First Division team gains Gizmos and Gadgets sponsorship

Gizmos and Gadgets will be the name associated with the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) first division team this year after the presentation of a $250,000 cheque last Tuesday at the company’s recently opened Superstore on Wellington Street and North Road.

From 1995-2006 the team was sponsored by Courts Guyana Incorporated and in 2007 and 2008 by Windies Sports Bar.

Last year the team was without a sponsor despite playing under the Windies Sports Bar name since former Managing Director of Courts and proprietor of Windies Sports Bar David Burgess returned to Scotland.

Secretary of the 20-year-old institution, Hilbert Foster, told representatives of the company that due to the internal structure and development of talents the club has been able to dominate cricket at the junior level although  the senior teams, along with Albion, are the teams to fear in Berbice.

He said that while over the years the club has enjoyed tremendous corporate support, he was pleased that Gizmos and Gadgets was coming on board to aid in the development of the youth.

“Today, we (members of RHTY&SC) are here as the club welcomes on board another official sponsor, Gizmos and Gadgets, who in 2010 would be taking over the sponsorship of our first division team. We are delighted to welcome one of Guyana’s most progressive and fast expanding companies into our list of official sponsors.”

“The team will immediately be renamed the Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets First Division Team and as another bonus for the company the club will also rename its under-23 team to feature the company’s name in its title,” Foster stated.

The management of the RHTYSC also expressed gratitude to Ravi Mangar and his wife from the upscale electronics store for their sponsorship. The company’s Marketing Manager Leisa Waddell was also praised for the “role she played in cementing the deal.”
Waddell said in her brief remarks that the company “has always been proud to be affiliated with established recreational games that not only enhance physical well-being and mental aptitude but provide opportunities to our Guyanese youth to progress in their chosen fields.”
“We have been impressed with the team’s dedication and consistency and it is for these reasons Gizmos and Gadgets have chosen to sponsor the RHTY&SC first division team. We hope this relationship will continue to foster their development and talents,” Waddell said.

Foster reassured the new sponsors that the RHTYSC will continue to work hard for success and will uphold the high standards they have set themselves over the years.

He said the club will carry the name of Gizmos and Gadgets with “pride and represent it with high class performance.

“Our boys would promote the company as it was never promoted before and we would make Mr. Mangar and his staff proud to be associated with the nation’s top NGO. It is our hope that today would be the start of a long and fruitful relationship with the company with more national championships, more Guyana and WI players and a lot of Berbice titles,” Foster remarked.
