MARBELLA, Panama, CMC – Kirt Sinnette, of Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaican Nicholas Walters have secured their highest ever world boxing ratings while Guyana’s Leon Moore holds a prominent top 10 spot in the latest rankings by the World Boxing Association (WBA).
Boosted by regional title successes in December, the super-middleweight Sinnette has jumped to No.13 on the WBA list and the unbeaten Walters is now 12th in his featherweight class on the January 2010 ratings list.
Moore, who captured the Pan Asian Boxing Association (PABA) super bantamweight belt last month, is now No.6 – up from 12th — among the WBA super-bantamweights.
Sinnette defeated Bahamian Jermaine Mackey on an 11th round technical knockout on December 13 in Trinidad to capture the FedeLatin 168-pound title while improving his record to 19 wins (15 knockouts) against one loss.
The WBA super-middleweight crown is currently held by Germany’s Dimitri Sartison.
Panama-based Walters predictably surged up the ratings after defeating the Dominican Republic’s Carlos Manuel Reyes on points to win the vacant FedeLatin featherweight title on December 18 in Haiti.
Walters boasts a 13-0 record with 10 knockouts and is now only two places away from a top 10 ranking in the WBA’s 126-pound division.
Cuban Yuriorkis Gamboa is the current WBA featherweight champion.
Moore, who advertised his immense boxing skills when beating Indonesia’s champion Marangin Marbun for the PABA super bantamweight belt in Singapore last month, is now perfectly poised for a world title opportunity with his No.6 rating.
Thailand’s Poonsawat Kratiengdaeng is the current WBA super-bantamweight champion.
The comfortable points victory over Marbun in the WBA-sanctioned event, gave Moore his first victory outside of the Caribbean and improved his record to 26 wins (22 knockouts) against two losses.
That win also added the PABA belt to his growing list of title successes.
Moore previously captured the World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas title, plus the Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) and North American Boxing Association (NABA) titles.
