In the Open final, Arjoon and Allan Downes rolled back the years and produced a riveting display of pure skill and accurate ball placement before Arjoon triumphed 11-15, 15-9, 15-10.

Downes had earlier reached the final by stopping Joven Benn 16-17, 15-12 and 15-11 in the first of two Open category semi-finals while Arjoon had the better of Michael Atherley 15-12, 14-17 and 15-12.

When the game started Downes (+10) was the aggressor and he forced Arjoon (+6) out of his comfort zone early in the first set which he went on to win 15-11.

But showing why he was one Guyana’s top players of yesteryear, Arjoon stormed back to win both sets convincingly 15-9, 15-10 to take the title.

In the third place game, Benn bounced back from his semi-final defeat to Downes to edge Atherley 17-14, 14-17 and 15-14 in a tough three-setter which saw both players having a plus 10 handicap.

In the Open category plate final, Joseph Meckdeci defeated Jason Ray Khalil 10-15, 15-11 and -1-15 while Regan Pollard was a no show for his third place game against Brian Young who won by walkover.

The Category `A’ final between Van Dyk (-15) and Julian Van Lange (+8) was a one sided affair with Van Dyk winning in two comfortable but yet entertaining sets, which both ended 15-14.
In the `A’ category third place match, Jonathan Antczak (-8) defeated Jamal Douglas (+10) 15-11, 15-13 and in the `A’ category Plate final Stefan John (+8) beat Patrick Fraser (+10) 15-8, 14-15, 15-8.

Van Dyk was named the tournament’s most improved player and was also one of the top ranked players in the `A’ Category.

Bounty Farm Director David Fernandes, at the conclusion of the tournament, said that he was satisfied and happy with the level of play in the tournament and expressed his company’s commitment to the longevity of the competition.

Fernandes, who is an ardent supporter of the game, saw his daughter Taylor Fernandes winning the tournament’s sportsmanship award.
