Nagamootoo continues to shine in T&T

The former West Indies player, turning out for Moosai Sports grabbed 4/60 in their Round Three T&T Cricket Board North Championship clash. Playing against Barataria Ball Players, Moosai Sports batted first and scored 259 for five declared. Nagamootoo scored 22 runs coming in to bat late in the order. In reply, Barataria Ball Players were dismissed for 175 with Nagamootoo taking four top order wickets. Batting a second time Moosai Sports reached 252 for eight when the match was called off as a draw. Moosai Sports won on first innings and are now leading the standings with 71 points. Meanwhile, Nagamootoo was hot property at the beginning of the season with his former club Tile Depot Central Sports making a bid to keep him. However, in the end, the lanky player chose Moosai Sports, as Tile Depot Central Sports are still without a home venue, after their venue was taken over by the government and a market built.

Vonney Roberts, president of Tile Depot Central Sports, said Nagamootoo was the player he wanted because of the wealth of experience he has. He told Stabreok Sport that: “Mahendra is a very good professional. He has a wealth of experience and we would have loved to have him play for us this season. However, he has made his choice and we have to respect that.”

Roberts, has, however, kept the services of fellow Guyanese Lennox Cush but the all rounder has been unavailable due to his commitments with the United States Cricket team.
