Harpy Eagles Boxing Gym reopens with eight-bout boxing card

Renovation works have been completed on the Harpy Eagles Boxing Gym and the administrators of that institution, in collaboration with the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA), will stage an eight-bout boxing card that will include the nation’s best amateur boxers.

The gym was closed for nearly four weeks to facilitate these works. The task was undertaken by Vice President of GABA, Maurice Rajkumar, who covered the expense of approximately $350,000.

Boxers would be drawn from the many gyms around Georgetown and in other regions as GABA executives move to engage boxers countrywide in regular competition.

The action gets underway from 11:00hrs moments after the  Minister of CultureYouth and  Sports, Dr. Frank Anthony, performs the ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony.

Participants are urged to be present at the venue by 10:00hrs to facilitate the weigh-in and a prompt start.
The entire card reads:

U-15 category – (75-79 lbs): Seon Griffith (FYF) versus Joel Williamson (PRBG), 103-110 lbs – Jermaine Agard (FYF) takes on Donald Trap (Timehri Warriors).

Youth Category, welterweight: Fabian Anthony (CBG) versus Ron Smith (TW); Females (lightweight): Theresa London (FYF) versus Amanda Charles (HE); Open Elite Category: flyweight: Imran Khan (HE) versus Daniswar Narine (Rep).
