Vishal Mohabir hit an aggressive 130 for Rose Hall/Canje while Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadget and Police Sports Club gained first innings points in the latest round of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) three-day cricket tournament that continued last Sunday in Berbice.
At the Area ‘H’ Ground, RHTG&G invited Port Mourant to take first strike and dismissed them for 118 with Rajendra Bojo (36), Troy Mc Kenzie (22) and Devindra Thakurdeen (20) being the only batsmen to offer resistance as off spinner Loyden Lewis took 4-28 and medium pacer Terrence Madramootoo 2-20. In reply RHTG&G reached 145-5 at the end of play with Troy Mathieson making 44, Madramootoo 43 and Dominic Rickey 40.
Port Mourant’s Steven Latcha has so far taken 2-31 and Yogindra Harrinarine 2-33.
At the Cumberland Ground in Canje, Mohabir blasted 17 boundaries in his 130 as Rose Hall/Canje amassed 335 all out against Bermine. He received support from Khemraj Sumair (57), Kevin Ramdeen and K. Gangaram with 39 runs each.
Off-spinner Joemal La Fleur grabbed 5-84 off 24 overs while Troy Mickle took 2-15. In reply Bermine reached 61-1 with Pronson Bynoe and Kevin Leitch both on 25 not out.
West Berbice had Young Warriors on the ropes playing at the Blairmont Ground. Young Warriors, batting first, were shot out for 175 with Wahied Edwards making 27, Linden Austin 26, Ishwar Singh 27 and Farouk Hussain 28 being the principal scorers. Sherwin Mc Pherson snapped five wickets for 40 runs off 14 overs while off spinner Krisendat Ramoo took 4-26 from 16 overs.
West Berbice in reply was strongly placed at 155-3 at stumps with former Berbice under-19 player Raphael Estriado making a polished 74 while Asif Khan and Krisendat Ramoo are unbeaten on 23. Young Warriors Farouk Hussain has so far taken 2-53.
At the Edinburgh Ground, Police have already secured first innings points over the home team. Police batted first and scored 188 with Kellon Henry scoring 31, Albert Sinclair 30 and Cyrus Gibson 33. Left arm spinner Mark Sampson took 5-29 and Charles Shepherd 2-15 for the home team.
In response the home team was dismissed for 119 with only Raid Ally (23), S. Seepersaud (29) and Zaid Hussain (29) offering any resistance to the Police bowling of Henry who took 4-30 and Carl Peters 2-43. Batting a second time with a lead of 69, Police reached five for one with Don Farley dismissed for nought.
Four games were played across the county while Scottsburg United did not turn up for their match against Albion at the Albion Community Centre. All matches continue on Saturday and will finish on Sunday.
