On Wednesday, General Manager of the company Rajin Ganga handed over the cheque while stating that his entity was very pleased to collaborate with the RHTY&SC again. The handing-over ceremony took place at Bakewell’s main branch at Triumph, East Coast Demerara.

The funds will go towards the club’s expenditure for cricket gear, transportation and meals. Ganga noted that the club has been successful over the years and stated that this was one of the main reasons for Bakewell’s ongoing support.

Chief Executive Officer of the club Hilbert Foster, in his remarks, expressed profound gratitude to Bakewell for their continued support over the past decade.

“Our success has been due to several factors and among them has been the support of official sponsors, including Bakewell. Bakewell came onboard with us in 2000 and since then it has invested $2.5M into the club as an official sponsor of our second-division and under-17 teams, and they also support our awards ceremony, youth magazine, cricket academy, charity programme, among other programmes,” Foster noted.

Foster said also that a number of players, both male and female, have excelled from the under-17 and second-division sides to greater heights.

Players such as Royston Crandon, Shemaine Campbell and middle-order batsman Assad Fudadin, who is a part of the current West Indies ‘A’ team, are proof of this fact.

Meanwhile, the RHTY&SC’s under-17 team currently holds the title in the   Berbice Cricket Board/ New Building Society tournament. This team is led by Berbice under-19 leg-spinner Lloydel Lewis.
