Windies women romp to series win against Pakistan

-Dottin shines with dazzling all-round performance

MOLYNEAUX, St Kitts, CMC – Teenager Deandra Dottin produced a telling all-round performance to fire West Indies women to an exciting six-wicket win over Pakistan in the second Twenty20 International yesterday, and to an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

The 19-year-old snatched three for 13 to reduce Pakistan to 104 for six after they won the toss for the second successive match and chose to bat at the Edgar Gilbert Sports Complex.

She then carved out an unbeaten 36 to power the hosts to 105 for four with four balls to spare, to extend the West Indies’ momentum ahead of the start of the women’s World Twenty20 Championship next week.

Dottin came to her side’s rescue with them struggling to score quickly at 58 for four in the 15th over and engineered a desperate recovery.

She smashed two fours and three sixes and posted an unbroken, fifth wicket stand of 47 from 32 balls with Shanel Daley who got 15 from 14 balls, to lift West Indies to victory.

The win was the fifth straight for West Indies after they swept Sri Lanka in the preceding three-match T20I series.

Earlier, Dottin wreaked havoc in the Pakistan innings with the visitors threatening to accelerate. At 71 for three in the 15th over, Dottin removed Armaan Khan cheaply to trigger a collapse as Pakistan struggled to gather runs quickly.
Captain Sana Mir held the innings together with 30 from 48 balls with three fours while Sajida Shah got a slow 23 from 33 balls with a single boundary.

Shah had put on 31 for the first wicket with Nain Abidi whose 21 came from 18 balls with three fours, but Pakistan lost their way thereafter.
