Defending champions Alpha United remained unbeaten in the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Super League competition following a 3-0 victory over Bakewell Topp XX in the lone encounter of a scheduled doubleheader on Friday.
The opening match between Sunburst Camptown and Seawall FC was unable to be played because of the existing adverse condition which made it difficult to facilitate both matches.
Leon Grumble, Anthony Abrams and Dwain Jacobs in the 17th, 80th and 87th minutes accounted for Alpha’s three goals and their seventh consecutive victory.
The winners led 1-0 at the interval, while the other two remaining goals came within seven minutes, the third from the penalty spot. Both teams were reduced to 10 men with Alpha United’s Leon Grumble given marching orders in the 72nd minute while Topp XX’s Ruel Williams was ejected in the 87th minute after receiving his second yellow card.
