Tattered kit prompts apologies from CSA, Reebok

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa,  CMC – South African cricket authorities, and kit supplier Reebok have apologised for the national team’s tattered limited-overs outfit worn in Wednesday’s first Twenty20 International against West Indies.

Cricket South Africa on Thursday apologised to the players, team sponsor Standard Bank, and the South African public for the scruffy state of the team’s outfit.

The names and numbers of players started to peel-off their jerseys during the game, which the Proteas won by 13 runs at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

“The Proteas are our premier brand, and we will do everything to ensure we protect the team’s integrity and provide you with a professional environment in which to carry out your duties,” said CSA chief executive Gerald Majola in a letter to national captain Graeme Smith.
