Commissioner Greene to sponsor Veterans TT tourney

Table tennis stars of yesterday will attempt to relive their glory days next month when a specially arranged tournament takes place at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The tournament is the brainchild of Commissioner of Police Henry Greene who will fully sponsor the competition which is expected to attract players from a wide cross section of Guyana.

The three category tournament will be played on July 5 and registration of players commences at 9am.

There will be no entrance fee.

Players will compete for trophies and cash incentives in the categories: Over35 years; over 40 years and over 50 years.

The tournament will be run off in conjunction with the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA).

Among the players expected to participate are Patrick Triumph, Michael Vieira, Balkissoon, Bruce Murray, Floyd Conway, Joe Clarke, Xenophen Goliath, Merton Blake, Remington Taitt, Marlon Washington and Richard Thompson.

The tournament will be co-ordinated by national player Andrew Daly with the assistance from Colin Boyce and the Guyana Police Force Sports Secretariat.
