Olympic 100m champion Fraser tests positive

KINGSTON, (Reuters) – Jamaica’s Olympic and world 100  metres champion Shelly-Ann Fraser has tested positive, her track  club (MVP) president Bruce James said.   Fraser, 23, was due to run at the Diamond League meeting in  Lausanne, Switzerland yesterday but withdrew before the start  of the event.

James said Fraser had tested positive at the Diamond League  meet in Shanghai on May 23 after taking medication to treat  “toothache”.

“It is a minor doping violation,” he said.

“We have nothing to hide and as a result of this we have  decided to go public and admit that she had a positive result,”  James told Reuters.
