Persaud, national and Caribbean individual champion Ransford Goodluck, Dylan and Richard Fields and US-based Guyanese John Fraser and Sigmund Douglas are the shooters heading to Bisley for three weeks of competition.

Persaud is already in the United Kingdom while Goodluck and the Fields are travelling this weekend.

Fraser and Douglas will travel next weekend, officials of the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) disclosed.

The local shooters will compete as a team in two matches, the McKinnon four-man team match over 300, 500, 600,900 and 1000 yards ranges and the Australian match over the five ranges.

The Bisley programme which fires off this weekend will include the NRA Imperial Meet with the highlight being the HM Queens Prize which will be contested on July 25.

The Grand Aggregate began with the Daily Telegraph competition yesterday.

Persaud and Goodluck are selectees on Guyana’s team for the Commonwealth Games in India in October and will be using the stint as valuable practice for the games.

The last time Guyana had enough shooters to participate as a team was in 2002.

All six riflemen were members of Guyana’s winning team at the recently held West Indies Fullbore championships in Barbados.

Guyana retained both long and short ranges titles at the regional competition.
