The Young Achievers volleyball team continued to dominate the ongoing True Champions Volleyball Tournament (TCVT) playing unbeaten yesterday at the Rollers Volleyball Court in New Amsterdam.

The West Demerara team won all four games to come out on top of the third leg of the competition.

They also won the first two legs contested at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and Goed Fortuin on the West Bank of Demerara.

During the first of the two legs scheduled for the Ancient County, the Young Achievers seemingly achieved what they set out to accomplish with convincing wins.

They started the day’s campaign against a fighting Port Mourant team and claimed a third set victory, winning the match-up 15-10, 14-15 and 15-9.

Apart from the opening game the other teams offered little resistance with Young Achievers trouncing Port Mourant ‘B’ 15-2, 15-2 and the rolling over Castrol Strikers 15-11, 15-5.

Rollers team’s home court advantage did not help their cause and they went under to Young Achievers 8-15, 14-15.

In other games played yesterday Port Mourant ‘B’ defeated Castrol Strikers 15-5, 15-4 in the day’s curtain raiser.

Castrol Strikers suffered another defeat in their second game losing to Rollers 15-11, 10-15, 11-15.

They, however, managed to redeem themselves with a victory against Port Mourant ‘A’ winning 5-15, 15-12, and 15-14.

Port Mourant ‘A’ then got the better of their ‘B’counterparts winning 15-8, 15-7 while in the two remaining matches Rollers defeated Port Mourant ‘B’ 15-12, 15-6 and Port Mourant ‘A’ toppled Rollers 15-13, 15-13.

Young Achievers ‘A’ bagged $20,000 for winning this leg of the competition.

The next leg of the tournament will take place at the Port Mourant Community Center Volleyball Court on August 28.
