Barbados crush Antigua after rollicking Greenidge century

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, CMC – Akil Greenidge slammed an entertaining century to fire Barbados to a massive 164-run victory over Antigua and Barbuda in their opening match of the St Kitts and Nevis Under-13 tournament here Sunday.

Playing at Warner Park, Greenidge stuck 118 as Barbados piled up 236 for five off their allotted 25 overs.

In an innings that lasted a mere 61 balls, he counted 10 fours and nine sixes in a belligerent display.

Leniko Boucher chipped in with 33, Lee Gaskinr got 31 while Sachin Clarke scored 27. Bran Baggat (2-35) and Hugan Tonge (2-45) finished with two wickets apiece.

In reply, Antigua were bundled out for a paltry 72 from 12.1 overs with Camarie Boyce snaring five for seven and Shamar Springer (2-16) and Degwin Currency (2-34) taking two wickets each.

At the Elquemedo Willett Park in Nevis, the hosts beat Anguilla by 95 runs after winning the toss and piling up an impressive 197 for five.

Saeed Williams hammered 85 with 12 fours and a six while Clydre Smithen stroked 31 not out and Colin Archibald, 31.

Anguilla could only muster 102 for seven in reply with Williams returning to take three for four.

At the Edgar Gilbert Sports Complex, Dominica marched to their second successive win in the tournament when they edged out Bermuda by two wickets.
