The slogan is in support of the Ministry of Tourism, which has been using it in support of tourism in Guyana.

During a press conference that was held at the MCYS office on Main Street, yesterday, the Minister of Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony, handed over the cheque to the Guyana Cricket Board which was represented by its president, Chetram Singh and secretary, Anand  Sanasie.

Dr. Anthony stressed that this was proof of the government’s longstanding commitment to the support of sports in Guyana and pointed out that this was a very good opportunity for Guyana to be advertised on the international stage.

He commended the team on earning its way to represent not just Guyana but the entire Caribbean as well.

“We are very pleased with the team’s performance. As you know they put on a sterling performance in the Caribbean Twenty20 and now that they will be representing the entire region, we will be rooting for them,” Dr. Anthony said.

He also took the opportunity to encourage the nation to show their support of their homemade team and encouraged all to tune in to all the matches and support the Amazon Conquerors.

Singh challenged the cricket team to go out to South Africa and maximize the sponsorship, by doing Guyana proud with their performance.

“I am hoping that the Guyana team will make us proud and give Guyana coverage during this tournament. I am also hoping that we would go all the way and maximize the sponsorship, and at the end of the day the whole world would know about Guyana, where Guyana is, and everything about Guyana,” Singh said.
