GT&T, K&S join forces for Golden Jaguars, Soca Warriors clash

The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) has   joined forces with the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation for the inaugural President’s Cup International Friendly match between Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago scheduled for tomorrow at the Guyana National Stadium.

Guyana’s Golden Jaguars will oppose Trinidad’s Soca Warriors in the feature event of a three-match card tomorrow. While GT&T did not disclose the size of the sponsorship they did disclose that there will be a number of initiatives such as live streaming of the game and the opportunity to win various prizes.

GT&T’s Marketing Manager Wystan Roberston declared on Thursday at a press conference held at GT&T:” This game is an indication of what football does for regional integration.”
He added:”We’re talking here about a team that has been able to make it to the World Cup coming to Guyana to play a friendly.

“GT&T has a tradition of supporting football and when occasions as such arise; it allows us to demonstrate our commitment to young people and to the game which we think has really helped in a positive way in the lives of many players” he said.

The Marketing Manager also revealed a number of initiatives that the company would be putting in place for tomorrow’s extravaganza.

Also present at the press conference were Kashif Muhammad and Aubrey “Shanghai” Major and GT&T’s Marketing Officer Abena Fung.

Muhammad said that so far the organizing of the event was going well adding that the organization was extremely grateful for the support from corporate Guyana and especially from GT&T.

Kirk Jardine, who is better known by the sobriquets `Chow Pow’ or `Bluey Max’ was present at the press conference and brought journalists up to date with the novelty aspect of the event.

Jardine said that patrons will be given coupons based on which stands they are in. The coupons are to be filled out and put into a box and at half time the lucky patrons will have an opportunity to take on `Chow Pow’ in a one-on one penalty situation. Whoever scores against goalkeeper “Chow Pow” will be the recipient of attractive prizes, it was disclosed. Other prizes at stake are Nokia 2500 cell phones, cash and free minutes, the company disclosed.
