BCB sends condolences on death of Mahindranauth Dhaniram of Chesney

The president and executive members of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday sent condolences to the family of the late Mahindranauth Dhaniram of Chesney, Albion, especially his two sons Sudesh and Sunil and his younger sibling Dhieranidranauth Somwaru, a first class umpire.

According to a release from the BCB yesterday, Dhaniram died on Monday at his residence after  prolonged illness. Dhaniram’s sons Sudesh and Sunil represented Guyana at both the senior and junior levels while  Sudesh went on to represent the West Indies A Team in 1983.

Sunil, after retiring from first class cricket in the West Indies, went on to represent Canada at the international level. Mahindranauth Dhaniram played an instrumental role in the cricket careers of his son while being a firm believer in personal commitment to the gentleman’s game and discipline.

Dhaniram, as it was stated in the release, also helped to guide many young players in the Chesney area and was a key member in the Chesney Cricket club in the 1980s and early 1990s.

The BCB wrote, “The Berbice Cricket Board was grateful for his input over the years and would like to reassure the Dhaniram’s family of our full support and prayers. May the soul of Mahindranauth Dhaniram rest in peace and may God bless and guide his family through these dark and difficult times.”
