PSC defend low score to secure first innings points

Georgetown Cricket Association’s (GCA) Carib Beer/Friends of Cricket First Division two-day tournament got off to an interesting start at the Eve Leary ground yesterday with a low scoring affair.

Police Sports Club made a paltry 105 all out in 40 overs but this total proved an insurmountable one for the Transport Sports Club (TSC) that only managed 99 in 38 overs. PSC bowler Jason Heyliger’s 4-23 combined with Vishal Singh’s 3-49 and left arm pacer Andre Stoll’s 2-24 to ensure their team secure a six-run first innings lead.

Azim Azeez was the only TSC batsman to reach double figures with 26. When Police batted Pernell London scored an unbeaten 42 as wickets fell around him. There were no other scores of significance in the Police batting but TSC’s Kevin Ross produced a good bowling performance, claiming 6-49. He got support from Carl Rambharose, who took 2-20.
Police will start their second innings today.
