Caricom Secratariat wins Inter-Corporation dominoes tourney

After three nights of gruelling dominoes action, Caricom Secretariat flayed their opponents to win the 25-team Inter-Corporation Dominoes competition.
In what turned out to be a lopsided final, the Caricom side scored a mammoth 84 games beating into second position F&H Printery on 74 while Guyana Police Force ended on the carpet with 65 games.The final was played at Guinness Bar on Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge.

Caricom Secretariat non-playing captain Barbara Lee receives the winning team trophy and $80,000 cash prize from Banks DIH Communications Manager, Troy Peters.

Tryone Blackman of F&H was the Most Valuable Player in the final but his 17 games failed to stop the marauding Caricom side.
Caricom’s first place prizes included the Banks DIH trophy, $80,000 and six bottles of R1 Vodka compliments of the local beverage giants.

F&H Printery took home the Ansa McAl trophy, $50,000 and four bottles of R1 Vodka.
Police secured the Giftland Office Max trophy and $30,000 while Mayor and City Council (M&CC) carted off the fourth prize of a trophy sponsored by Western Union and $10,000.

John Wilburg of NIS won a trophy for sharing the first double love in the tournament.
Tournament organizer Lyall Gittens, President of Next Level Club, said the support from teams was overwhelming forcing the event into a third day.

Matches were played for the first two days at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue but the final was shifted to Guinness Bar.
Gittens also expressed gratitude to Banks DIH, Ansa McAl, Western Union, Giftland Office Max, GT&T, Guinness Bar, Star Party Rental, Rent-A-Tent, H. Persaud and L. Kanhai who offered support to the tournament now in its second year.
He said that the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport and Director Neil Kumar were also very supportive of the venture.
