-Dowlin, Johnson hit unbeaten tons
Essequibo suffered another humiliating defeat in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Four-day tournament when they were beaten by an innings and 38 runs inside two days at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground yesterday.
Former West Indies senior player Travis Dowlin and former West Indies Under-19 skipper Leon Johnson struck unbeaten centuries in a double century fourth wicket stand which enabled Demerara to declare their first innings with the score 281-3 at lunch yesterday.
Essequibo, who only mustered 122 in their first innings were then bundled out for a paltry 121 in their second innings.

Dowlin hit 11 fours and three sixes in his 113 from 213 balls while Johnson occupied the crease for 201 minutes for his 105 which included 10 fours and three sixes.
The pair added 210 runs in an unbroken fourth wicket stand.
Essequibo, needing to score 160 to ensure Demerara batted a second time, reached 102-4 at tea before crumbling to 121 all out 38 minutes after the interval.
Delon Heyliger (25), Ryan Fredericks (23) and Anthony Adams (19) were the principal scorers for Essequibo as leg-spinner Amir Khan, off- spinner Zaheer Mohammed, pacer Trevon Garraway and offs-pinner Steven Jacobs ripped through the line up with 3-41 (14.1), 2-15 (4) 2-25 (9) and 2- 28 (8) respectively.
