Large turnout expected for GTTA’s inter-ministry, corporations, business entities TT tourney

The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), fresh from its staging of the National Schools TT championships, will stage a competition for ministries, business entities, corporations and organizations this weekend at the National Gymnasium.

The GTTA has invited over 40 organisations to participate in the tournament which commences today.

According to a press release from the association, the aim of the tournament is to promote the sport countrywide and this tournament, the release stated, serves as a part of that framework.

By staging of the tournament the GTTA said it hopes to foster camraderie amongst staff members; develop partnerships and create a better understanding and appreciation of the roles between the respective organizations and sectors.

An entrance fee of three thousand dollars will be charged to participate in the tournament from which active national players have been debarred.

Teams will consist of four players with at least two necessary to compete.
Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams while certificates will be given teams winning their groups.
The tournament is sponsored by the Guyana Bank for Trade Industry and Commerce.

Commissioner of Police, Henry Green, is likely to spearhead the Police Officers club along with former national player Patrick Triumph while former national player Andrew Daly will spearhead the Guyana Police Force team.
