The Message pulls off narrow win over Night Crescendo

The Message of the Elcock Stable pulled off a narrow win in the feature B class race over rival Night Crescendo of the Crawford Stable in the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club season ending horse race meet on Sunday.

Despite the inclement weather the race was an exciting one especially as the two horses were neck and neck down the homestretch. However, in the end it was The Message that sneaked the win.

In the early stages of the race Star Tracer, Night Crescendo and On the Rock with Salt set the pace while The Message, mounted by Jamaican jockey Andron Findley, kept within striking distance of the main group in the 1,400M event.

Night Crescendo, with Yap Drepaul in the saddle, pulled away slightly from the group before The Message also made its move just before the homestretch.
In the end The Message, which was skillfully ridden by Findlay, rode away with the $500,000 and the Banks DIH trophy. Face the Music, also of the Elcock Stable, came in third ahead of Miss Orientate of the Crawford Stable.

Sabrina’s Princess, which was ridden by Barbados-based jockey Michael Liverpool, of the Jagdeo Stable won the  three-year-old event over 1,400m for Guyana and West Indies bred horses. Peaceful of the Elcock Stable, with Paul Delph in control, and Fairy Landing were second and third respectively. The win was worth $350,000 and the Ivan Dipnarine trophy.

Try Again was also in winners’ row as it took the Division 1&2 1,400m event and the $100,000 winning prize and the David Ramnarine trophy.
Meanwhile, the Elcock Stable won all the individual prizes as the group took the champion jockey award, which went to Findley, while Elcock himself was adjudged top trainer and his stable was named the best  for a clean sweep. Trophies were presented by Trophy Stall.
