Arokium-sponsored cycle race set for Berbice

The Flying Ace cycling club of Berbice will be staging the Phillip Arokium Memorial 40-mile cycle road race on Sunday.

The race, which is sponsored by the Arokium Family will begin from the Arokium funeral Home, New Amsterdam at 09:00hrs and  proceed to Adventure Village, Corentyne, then back to Main and Alexander streets, New Amsterdam for the finish.

Cyclists will be categorized for the race as seniors, juniors, juveniles and females.
The female category will cover six miles beginning at #19 Village, Corentyne and finishing at Main and Alexander streets, New Amsterdam.

Prizes will be awarded to the first six finishers in the senior category and the first three juniors, juveniles and females. Fourteen sprint prizes will also be up for grabs.

Members of the Arokium family will be making the presentation of prizes at the end of the event.
The race, which is also the last race on the Flying Ace Club’s 2010 schedule, is open to cyclists who are a part of a cycling club. Interested cyclists may contact regions 5 and 6 cycling coach, Randolph Roberts.
