Lowe in sight of women’s title

Overseas-based racquet wielder Trenace Lowe was in sight of her first women’s single title as the Vita Malt National Open table tennis championships continued last night at the Cliff Anderson  Sports Hall.

Playing in the round robin final southpaw Lowe, who is the clear favourite in the absence of Michelle John, had defeated Saskia Chung, Adfielle Rosheuvel, and Chelsea Edghill with only Natalie Cummings waiting.

Lowe defeated Rosheuvel 11-5, 11-5, 11-7, Chung 11-6, 11-3 and 11-4 and Edghill 11-6, 9-11, 11-6, 11-4.

Edghill won against Chung 11-8, 11-2, 11-4 but lost to Cummings 11-7, 6-11, 11-8, and 11-7.

At press time Cummings and Lowe were locked in battle.
