NAMILCO Football Festival wraps up Tuesday

With the recent inclement weather taking a turn for the better, the Fruta Conquerors football club will now look to stage the final of the NAMILCO Football Festival on Tuesday.

The final was delayed for weeks because of the inclement weather.
Contacted for a comment yesterday, president of the club, Marlan Cole, said that at the moment the Tucville Playfield was in a playable condition and all systems were set for the conclusion on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s final round of matches will begin at 6pm with the third place showdown between 2009 champions Sunburst Camptown and host team Fruta Conquerors.

The final will get underway at 8pm with Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United and Santos F.C going head-to-head for a cool half a million dollars first prize.

The runner-up team will receive $200,000 while third and fourth place finishers are set to walk away with $100,000 and $50,000 respectively. Other incentives will go to the Most Valuable Player, the Highest Goal Scorer and the Best Goalkeeper to name a few.

Cole said they are very grateful that the weather seemed to have turned the corner which will give them a chance to conclude the tournament as early as possible.

He said the tournament had been running quite well and added that it was unfortunate that the weather delayed the grand finale.
Proceeds from this tournament will go towards the development of the Tucville ground.

Cole said the organizing committee would like to thank the entities that assisted in making the tournament possible, including: The National Milling Company of Guyana (NAMILCO), Banks DIH Limited, GT&T, Global Technology, 2J’s General Store Regent Street, Junior Jewellery Robb Street, Bayridge Taxi Service and Oasis Water Company.
