Holland honoured by Lindeners for sterling contribution to sports

Local boxing promoter Carwyn Holland was yesterday the recipient of an award from the community of Linden for his sterling contribution to sports in Guyana.

The presentation was done at the opening ceremony of the annual Linden three-day fair which got underway at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground yesterday.

After receiving the award, Holland thanked the organisers, Malwen Promotions and said he was deeply moved by the gesture of his fellow Lindeners.

Holland’s has been the leading promoter in the Caribbean for several years now and won the World promoter of the Year award in 2004. His next event is slated for November 6 at the Princess Hotel and Casino. Several high profile boxers are expected to be on show which will be aired internationally by ESPN and CMC.  Holland was a special guest at the MSC Fair Opening Ceremony at which patrons were also treated to an exhibition by world-rated boxer Leon Moore who is set to headline the Caribbean Fury2 Card against Venezuelan Breilor Teran.
