Five T&T-based Guyanese for K&S opener

Five Trinidad & Tobago-based Guyanese players have been named in a 20-man Guyana All Star squad that will play Brazil’s Athletico Roraima in the feature game of the opening night for the 21st Kashif & Shanghai football tournament on December 12.

The Pro League players are former national Captain Charles ‘Lily’ Pollard, who will be in Guyana on Saturday, midfielders Kayode Mc Kinnon, Carey Harris and Walter Moore and forward Randolph ‘Blackhead’ Jerome. The game will also be held in honour of central defender Pollard and forward Collie ‘Hitman’ Hercules, who have served Guyana’s football with distinction over the years.

the sport while Hercules is presently the Assistant Coach of the Golden Jaguars. Hercules will be a player/coach in Sunday’s game.

The custodians named are Guyana’s number one pick, Ronson Williams, and Derrick Carter. Current Captain Howard Lowe, who also played Hercules and Pollard, will lead the team in Sunday’s match.

Dwain Jacobs, Philbert Moffatt, Warren Gilkes, Dwight Peters, Devon Millington, Dwayne Ali, Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson, Travis ‘Zorro’ Grant, Nigel ‘Powers’ Codrington, Anthony ‘Awo’ Abrams, Kestor Jacobs and Clive Nobrega are the other players named in the squad.

Wayne ‘Wiggy’ Dover will be in charge of the technical department as Head Coach and will be assisted by Hercules and Gavin Browne (Goalkeeper); Rawle Adams has been appointed Manager.

Meanwhile, the Brazil-based Athletico Roriama will arrive in Guyana tomorrow evening.
