King’s Jewellery rings to honour two football stalwarts

King’s Jewellery World once again granted a request of the Kashif and Shanghai Organization when it manufactured rings to honour Guyana’s football stalwarts Collie ‘Hitman’ Hercules and Charles ‘Lilly’ Pollard.

The two long-serving national football players have also been a part of every Kashif and Shanghai Knockout Tournament from its inauguration until now.

Earlier in the annual preparations for the 21st football extravaganza, Directors of the organization Kashif Muhammad and Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major said  publicly  that they would be honouring the two individuals for their invaluable support to football in Guyana throughout the years.

On Wednesday Managing Director of King’s Jewellery World, Ralph Persaud presented the organization with two handcrafted gold rings, designed by the store and bearing the Kashif and Shanghai emblem along with the names of the players.

These rings will feature in the opening ceremony of the 21st Kashif and Shanghai Knockout Tournament on December 12 at the Guyana National Stadium where an exhibition matchup between the Golden Jaguars and Brazil’s Atletico of Roraima State will be played in honour of the two.

At the simple ceremony in the main branch on Quamina Street, Persaud said, “We have supported the tournament many times with awards for the Most Valuable Player and in other sports as well, but when the Kashif and Shanghai Organization came to us with the idea we thought that this would be a chance to display what we at King’s are capable of.”

Persaud further stated that they came up with the idea of rings because in numerous other prestigious sports they mark a championship with a ring, so the ring of authenticity would be one of the best tokens for the players.

In Muhammad’s brief remarks he said “the Kashif and Shanghai Organization is extremely grateful for the support we have been receiving from King’s Jewellery World –  they have been supporting us from the very first tournament.”

“We were happy when we came they decided to give us something that would be a good token for the players and we are much more satisfied,” he added.
