Toucan House takes lead at Green Acres Championships

Students of the Green Acres Play, Nursery, and Primary School yesterday got in on some of the athletics action when the school held the track events of its annual Athletics Championships at the Carifesta Sports Complex Ground.

With the athletes vying to earn their respective houses the top spot as the champion of the day it was the Toucan House, off the creditable performances of its athletes, which stood out with an unofficial lead yesterday but points are still to be tallied.

Meanwhile running with consistent second place finishes behind Toucan in most of the races, the Kiskadee House was following in the points tally for most of the day and would most probably be the second place winner  while Blue Sackie is up for a likely third.

Dressed in their distinguished red house colour, the athletes of Toucan House led in most of the day’s events.

In the 1,000m boys open, Toucan’s Tortque Boyce won the event, being followed by Kiskadee’s Reuben Miller in second and Blue Sackie’s Rakeen Wright following in third. Boyce also caught a first place in the boys under-12 100m event where Tarell Edwards came third.

Toucan’s Ronesha Freeman also did a double take when she won the girls open 800m, before constructing a first place in the girls under-12 100m, in which her teammate Monique Payne was second. In the 800m second place  went to Kiskadee’s Juden Crandon while Blue Sackie’s Levadney Rodney came in third.

Over in the under-10 category Toucan’s Rakquan Daniels and Tynque Arthur gained first and second, respectively, in the  boys 80m event. Blue Sackie finally took up a dominant position with a first place in the girls 80m won by Abolnisye Albert, Brianca Lester from Kiskadee was second.

Toucan once again led the races in the under-8 80m races while  the boys event was won by Marvin Patterson and Anternette Bowman won in the girls category.
