Robert is willing –but is he able?

Union wins key battle at RUSAL

The application by some employees of  RUSAL subsidiary, BCGI to have the Guyana Bauxite and General Workers Union (GB&GWU) derecognised as the bargaining unit for workers has been denied by the Trade Union Recognition and Certification Board (TUR&CB).

CPCE expanding quota for private school teachers

Minister of Education Shaik Baksh said the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) will be expanding its quota for private school teachers and they will also be able to participate in the Continuous Professional Development programme offered by the National Centre for Education Resource Development (NCERD) Baksh, addressing a forum of private teachers, said the ministry fully supports the development and expansion of private schools as they play a vital role in the effort to boost literacy, modernise education and strengthen tolerance, a press release from the ministry stated.

Export directly to Venezuela

Minister of Agriculture Robert Persaud challenged rice farmers to export their crop directly to Venezuela and reap more benefits from the opening of new market opportunities, at an outreach exercise held last Wednesday.

Ross seeking to hold third HRC on May 29…

Organiser of the Biennial Hugh Ross Classic (HRC) bodybuilding competition, Hugh Ross disclosed to Stabroek Sport recently that he plans to stage another HRC this year on May 29, but the date proposed has to be sanctioned by the Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GABBFF).
