14-man squad named for Cellink Berbice Under-15 team

A fourteen man squad was announced last weekend by the Junior Selection Committee headed by Leslie Solomon of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) for the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Inter-county Under-15 Tournament to represent Cellink Berbice in the competition.

According to a press release, Public Relations Officer and Chairman of the BCB Special Events Committee, Hilbert Foster stated that despite the uncertainties surrounding the entire operation of the GCB, the BCB’s preparations for all Inter-county tournaments are well ahead.

The Cellink Berbice Under-15 Team was selected based on performances in the Tenelec Inc. Inter-club competition and the 2011 NCN Inter-zone Under-15 Tournaments. The players’ personal discipline, attitude, commitment and ability to be positive role models accounted for their selection, the release noted.

The team will be led by all-rounder Sharaz Ramcharran of Albion while his vice captain will be Viendra Gooniah of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club.
Meanwhile the youngsters will continue to be involved in the BCB’s Junior Elite coaching programme twice per week under the guidance of coaches Julian Moore and Winston Smith.
