Three Guyanese cyclists in top 20

Three members of the Guyana cycling team that took part in the Caribbean Cycling Championships in Jamaica last weekend placed among the first 20 participants in the Men’s Elite Road Race.

Geron Williams finished 10th, Alonzo Greaves, 13th and Enzo Matthews placed 20t in the 70- mile event.

Results of the Elite Men’s Road Race:

1st Cedric Eustache (Martinique): 2nd. Efren Ortega (Puerto Rico): 3rd. Damien Maroni (St.Maarten) 4th was Michael Laurent (Martinique) 5th Phillip Clarke (Barbados) 6th. Murvin Arumjo.

In the Men’s Time Trial Enzo Matthews was the lone entrant for Guyana and he came in 17th.

In the Women’s Road Race, Guyana’s Hazina Barrett placed seventh.

The race was won by Shalini Zabahneh of Belize with Dahlia Palmer of Jamaica and Esrher Miller Rosemont, second and third.

The Women’s Time Trial was won by Tamiko Butler of Antigua.
