Granger rubbishes PPP/C security record

APNU presidential candidate David Granger yesterday said that the PPP/C administration must bear “full responsibility” for the country’s high crime rate, as opposition groups dismissed claims by the PPP/C presidential candidate Donald Ramotar and President Bharrat Jagdeo of links by prominent members to criminals.

M&CC to probe fallen tree fatality

Public Relations Officer of the Mayor and City Council, Royston King, yesterday told Stabroek News that an investigation will soon be launched by the City Constabulary into Sunday’s incident where an Ite palm tree fell on a North/East La Penitence home, killing a 5-year-old girl while she slept in her bed; dangerous trees will also be removed, he added.

Guard accused of breaking into bond

A 38-year-old security guard yesterday appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to face the charge of break and enter and larceny after he was accused of breaking into a bond he was assigned to guard at a worksite.
