Biker dies after collision with container

A 36-year-old man died today under suspicious circumstances following an apparent accident on Wellington Street in the city.

Dead is Rawle Blackman called ‘Presumptuous’, of Albouystown and of Tiger Bay. Various accounts received by this newspaper revealed that Blackman was riding his bicycle along Wellington Street heading south when he collided with a Mitsubishi motor car and a parked container.

The man’s relatives and persons at the scene maintained that Blackman was hit by the left side of the motorcar and subsequently fell and hit his head on a metal bar under the container. The driver of the car however, told police that he was trailing Blackman after the man allegedly snatched two gold chains from a woman.

The driver of the car is in police custody assisting with investigations.
