Pope says to hold peace summit with religious heads

VATICAN CITY, (Reuters) – Pope Benedict said today he will host a summit of world religious leaders in the  city of Assisi in October to discuss how they can promote world  peace.
The meeting will take place on the 25th anniversary of a  similar encounter hosted by the late Pope John Paul in 1986.  That historic meeting in the birthplace of St Francis was  attended by Muslim and Jewish leaders as well as heads of many  other religions.
