Guyanese dies in Antigua New Year’s crash

The Antiguan police have reported that a 60-year-old Guyanese man died in a crash in Antigua early on New Year’s morning.

According to CARIBARENA Antigua, the first road fatality for the year occurred on the Herbert’s Main Road near Veg International. The report said that William Fordyce of Potters Village had been walking south with his bicycle when he was hit from behind by a silver Honda Civic, A33905, owned by Fern Dyer of All Saints. The incident happened at around 5:55 am.

The report said that William Stewart, 65, of Clarke’s Hill had been driving the vehicle at the time, and initially left the scene, but later turned himself in to the police.

A passerby spotted the body and called for help. Fordyce was pronounced dead on the scene, the report said.
