PPP concerned at attack on Sahoye-Shury’s home

The People’s Progressive Party yesterday said it was deeply concerned at the attack on the home of Philomena Sahoye-Shury.

On January 7th, 2011 at around 10 pm an incendiary device was thrown at Sahoye-Shury’s Section K home.

A release from the PPP said “Mrs. Sahoye-Shury is a member of the PPP’s Central Committee and a leading personality in the PPP/C administration. She is well known for her energetic work in all communities at grass roots level.

“This attack on the home of Mrs. Shury has come at a time when several incidents, including the explosion at Stabroek Market, and attempted arson on schools on the East Coast have taken place. These may not be unconnected.

“If the action is intended to intimidate Mrs. Shury we wish to say that it will not succeed.”

The party urged the security forces to intensify their efforts to catch the perpetrators and “prevent the peaceful and tranquil situation in our country from being disrupted.”
