The Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) executive was re-elected at the body’s recently held Annual General Meeting (AGM).
According to a press release from the CCCC, Imran Hamid has been re-elected President; Leekha Rambrich, Vice-President; Tajpaul Adjodhea, Treasurer; Krishnanand Raghunandan, Secretary; Poonai Bhigroog, Assistant Treasurer; Bibi Azeez, Assistant Secretary; and Adrian Anamayah, Public Relations Officer, were re-elected to office for the fiscal year March 2011-2012.
Looking at its accomplishments for 2010, the CCCC said the Rose Hall Town Fire Station, which it initiated, was finally commissioned in May and is already in operation. The Felix Austin Police College at Adventure, Corentyne also hosted its third batch of recruits for training under a joint rehabilitative effort by the Guyana Police Force and the CCCC.
It was re-commissioned in 2009.
The CCCC’s sixth Berbice Expo and Trade Fair held in July was not as successful as previous years due to the inclement weather.
Though the conditions were alleviated to a great extent by help from the Region Six administration and the Guyana Sugar Corporation, the situation “did drive home the point that Berbice lacks a proper all-weather venue to stage events.”
In this regard, the CCCC is currently working with the region to establish an exhibition complex.
