Bush Lot man stabbed while defending sister recovering

The Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice man who tried to save his sister during an attack by her estranged husband says he is feeling “okay” as he recovers in the High Dependency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Labourer Kishan Sampuran, 19, sustained a stab wound to his upper right side.

At the hospital he was being visited by his sister. He was awake and talked a little.

According to his sister, Rita Sampuran, 24, her brother had undergone surgery when he arrived at the hospital after being transferred from the Mahaicony Hospital. Doctors, she said, told her that her brother is on a liquid diet only.

Sampuran was stabbed on Monday afternoon after he rushed to Rita’s help when her estranged husband tried to attack her with a knife.  Rita said that police have not been able to apprehend her husband so far.
