Children injured in ‘Tapir’ accident recovering

The two Crabwood Creek Primary School children injured in a vehicular accident on Monday continue to recover in the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Rohame Baran and Vickram Sukraj, both 10 years old, of Crabwood Creek, Berbice, were passengers in a “tapir” heading to school when the accident occurred.

Although still a patient of the High Dependency Unit, Baran showed signs of improvement. Her mother said yesterday she is still to speak to the doctor to find out how her daughter is really doing but the swelling on Baran’s face had reduced significantly and she was awake and being fed by her mother.
Baran had sustained a broken leg, a fractured hand and skull along with severe bruising to the face and other parts of the body.

As for Sukraj his father said that he too was feeling somewhat better. The boy was wearing a neck brace yesterday.  Sukraj had also sustained a fractured skull as well as bruising to his face and body.

The children were injured when the tapir that was taking them to school collided with a bus which was reportedly speeding.
