Brazilian murdered at Moco Moco, buried in shallow grave

A boast of murder led to the arrest of a man at Moco Moco on Saturday and then the gruesome discovery of the body of a Brazilian in a shallow grave in the mountainous village.

Police today said that on Saturday, acting on information received that a man who was consuming alcohol at the village of Moco Moco, Kanuku Mountains, was boasting of having murdered a man and buried his body they went to the village and arrested the man.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of two Brazilians in the same village who were found with a quantity of suspected marijuana, and one of whom claimed that the suspect had killed his brother.

Police then began a search of the mountains. “During the search the body of Brazilian Armando Da Silva, 26 years, who was the brother of one of the Brazilians arrested, was found in a shallow grave.”

A field of about one acre is size with approximately 2,000 marijuanna plants ranging in height between two and six feet, along with a camp, were found by the police.  A man who is the brother of the murder suspect was arrested, the police said.

The four men are in police custody assisting with the investigations.

Da Silva’s body was brought out to the Lethem Hospital Mortuary with the assistance of the village toshao and a media representative.

Police say that a team of investigators has been dispatched to the area to continue the investigations.
